Mayor welcomes Green Flag judge

The Mayor and Mayoress Councillor John Skinner JP and his wife Giil welcomed Green Flag judge Michael Foy to the parlour on Friday June17.

Run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy the Green Flag awards scheme recognises excellence in parks and green spaces and judges them against eight criteria including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement. 

 

In 2015 Douglas received five Green Flag awards: for Noble's Park, the sunken gardens, Douglas golf course, Douglas Head and Hutchinson Square. 

 

Results for 2016 are due to be announced in July.
