We want to develop a Trainee, on an initial 2 year trainee contract, who will support the Corporate Health & Safety Officer. The role will involve learning about health and safety regulations, policies and procedures, risk assessments, accident investigations, near misses and communicating effectively with other members of staff while promoting a positive safety culture within the Council. In return the Council will support you in gaining a formal qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH/NVQ/NCRQ) and will provide mentorship and development so you can become an effective health and safety practitioner.
This trainee role would suit somebody who is fairly new to the role of health and safety. It would be advantageous if you have already worked within a health and safety environment and some experience of working in construction or facilities management would be advantageous. If you are pro-active, enthusiastic and eager to learn, have an interest in health and safety and want to develop your career further then we would welcome an application from you.

As part of this role you will carry out vehicle and equipment repairs to a safe, reliable and legal standard.
The role requires previous experience working within a diverse fleet environment and it is essential you hold a City and Guilds Engineering Certificate (Motor Vehicles) Part 2 (minimum) or equivalent.
