Contract spaces

Contract spaces may be available at the Shaw's Brow car park. Please call 696301 for details or to apply for a space.  Contract spaces are also available at Chester Street Car Park, please see below for details.

Operation Overview

When entering any of the car parks, you should either take a ticket or swipe your contract card.

Before exiting the car park, daily users will need to put their ticket into the paystation machine. That will display the amount due and once it is paid, by cash, credit card or debit card, it will validate and return the ticket. The user can then drive to the exit barrier, insert the ticket, and drive out.  There is no payment facility at the exit barrier; all payments must be made at a paystation.

Paystations are sited at strategic points in each of the car parks, and are clearly signed. They accept payment in cash (by note and/or coins and give change where applicable) and by debit and credit cards. When a ticket is presented the paystation calculates and charges the lowest applicable tariff. A receipt will be issued for all credit card transactions and for all other transactions, the issue of a receipt will be optional.

Assistance is available via the intercom at each paystation and barrier machine. Users pressing the 'Assistance' button will automatically be connected to the Town Hall during working hours (08:45 to 17:15 Monday to Friday) and to a standby officer at other times.

Maximum stay in Shaw's Brow = 24 hours.
