2025 Local Elections

 

Local authority elections will take place on Thursday, 24th April, 2025. Douglas Council will have 12 vacant seats, split between the four Wards, Central, East, North and South. 

 

To stand as a local authority member, you must appear on the Register of Electors as of 1st January, 2025 - you do not have to be registered in the constituency for which you are standing. Contact the Crown and Elections Unit on 685754 or at gov.im/registertovote for more information or to check if you are registered. 

 

The term of office is 4 years. Nomination packs will be available in March 2025.

1. Attend public Council meetings on the second Wednesday of the month in the Council Chamber, at Douglas City Hall;

2. Read agendas and minutes by clicking here;

5. Follow the Council on Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date with Council news.

 

Elected Members are required to attend regular Committee, Council and other meetings. All Council and Committee Meetings take place during office hours and generally last no longer than half a day. An attendance allowance can be claimed as follows;

 

1. Daytime rate: £12.50 per hour (to a maximum of £50 per session)

2. Evening rate - £7.50 per hour (to a maximum of £30 per session)

 

The maximum yearly allowance available is £6,000.
