There’ll be ‘something in the air’ in Strand Street on Saturday December 1 when an ice sculpture will be carved by local artists Stephanie Quayle and Darren Jackson.

Once again the sculpture is being sponsored by Wi-Manx and, said Town Centre Manager Oliver Cheshire, ‘over the course of the morning the theme will slowly become “plane” to see.’

He continued: ‘We’re very grateful to Wi-Manx for their continued support of what is always a crowd-pleasing event. Stephanie and Darren’s ice carvings are famed internationally for being truly spectacular. They’ll be working on the corner of Regent Street and Strand Street, starting at 7am and by around 10am will have completed the sculpture which will look absolutely amazing come the evening when it’s lit up and provides some memorable photo opportunities.

‘Last year Stephanie and Darren carved a train - the Wi-Manx Express - and they’re continuing with the transport theme this year, so to find out more, I’d suggest everyone “flies down” to Douglas town centre on Saturday December 1.’

Wi-Manx marketing manager Sarah Read said: ‘We’re pleased to be sponsoring this year’s ice sculpture; it makes for a stunning attraction in the town centre and really adds to the Christmas atmosphere. Stephanie and Darren never fail to amaze us with their imagination and creativity, and watching the carving taking shape is truly spell-binding.
