Monday, 15 December 2014 14:30

Douglas will be the place to be the weekend before Christmas – a festive extravaganza with the added oh-so-cool attraction of an ice sculpture in the making - sponsored by Sure - inspired by the hit Disney film Frozen and carved by internationally acclaimed husband-and-wife team Darren Jackson and Stephanie Quayle Jackson, (pictured below in Edmonton)

From around 10.30am on Saturday December 20th Christmas in the capital steps up a gear when Regent Street becomes the setting for the ice carving, due to be revealed in all its Frozen glory by around early afternoon, while the craft, food and gift fair will be lining Castle Street and Marina Road on both the Saturday and the Sunday – the perfect opportunity to seek out those last-minute inspired Christmas gifts, from pulled pork to pooches’ presents, cookies to cupcakes, baguettes to bandanas…and so much more.

Town centre manager Michelle O’Malley said: ‘Darren and Stephanie’s work is always jaw-droppingly sensational and attracts tremendous interest. Combine that with street entertainment and all the varied unique gift ideas at the craft and food fair and Douglas will be delivering a full-on festive experience like no other that weekend. And let’s not forget, as well as after five on Thursday December 18th , there’ll be free parking on the Saturday and Sunday in Shaw’s Brow and the Bottleneck car park, as well as in Chester Street car park and on Loch Promenade walkway on Thursday December 18th  and Saturday December 20th , so you’ll be able to load up on gifts, safe in the knowledge your car will be nearby.’
