Douglas Borough Council has released its 2017-2021 corporate plan.

The plan, the Council’s third, sets out the local authority’s priorities, objectives, responsibilities and aspirations for the next four years.

Council Leader Councillor David Christian MBE JP said: ‘Douglas is one of only a few local authorities in the Isle of Man to have a corporate plan. It is not a legal requirement to have such a document but the Council is firmly of the belief that a corporate plan is important to provide focus and direction.

‘This corporate plan is a statement of intent. Ambitious but realistic, the plan articulates what the Council has pledged to do to ensure that Douglas is a town where people will want to live, work, visit and, crucially, invest.

‘It defines the Council’s role not only as a local authority with statutory duties, but also as an organisation responsive to the local community, to its customers, its Members and its people.

‘This is a document that will shape how, despite mounting pressure on its budgets, the Council will protect and transform its services, apply rigour to its financial and governance obligations and contribute to the capital’s economic growth.

‘In short, this corporate plan serves as the framework for how, over the next four years, the Council will deliver for Douglas and is predicated on the Council’s commitment to create brighter prospects for our town, our future.’
