The world-famous TT (Tourist Trophy) festival, established in 1907, has earned the Island recognition as the 'road racing capital of the world'.
Douglas is the centre of this annual two-week event each summer, usually from late May to early June, and attracts thousands of fans to the Island when the town takes on a unique carnival atmosphere.
The first week of TT is practice week when racers familiarise themselves with the course. TT week sees races held on three days – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – with the other days being held as reserve days in the case of bad weather or incidents on scheduled race days.
The Friday (Senior) race day is a bank holiday in the Isle of Man.
