Anagh Coard Primary School has triumphed in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge after it won the Scottish Widows-sponsored £100 book token for the school with the most pupils to complete the challenge, the theme for which was Record Breakers.

Sponsored for the eighth successive year by Scottish Widows, the Summer Reading Challenge is a partnership between The Reading Agency and public libraries that aims to build confidence and independent reading, while preventing the dip in children’s literacy levels during the long break from school.

For 2015 the Summer Reading Challenge teamed up with Guinness World Records to create Record Breakers, journey through the summer holidays where children discover fascinating facts about record breakers as they go.

In total 131 children in Douglas schools completed the challenge, a partnership between the Henry Bloom Noble Library and Scottish Widows.
