A collaboration between Douglas Borough Council and Professional Lighting Design of Douglas has led to their becoming joint winners of the Best Innovation in the Public Sector category in the Isle of Man Energy Awards 2014 for the architectural illumination of Jubilee Buildings.

To mark the success of the project Professional Lighting Design’s Ralph Peake (pictured above) presented His Worship the Mayor of Douglas Councillor Stan Cain JP with the Council’s award at a short reception in the mayor’s parlour.

The scheme includes both the lighting of the building and the adjacent public pathway, with the ground buried lighting installed by the Council’s electrical services section.

Situated in the town centre regeneration zone Jubilee Buildings has an engineered brick and sandstone Victorian façade, the features of which are now dramatically highlighted at night by a sophisticated LED system, the fixtures for which are unobtrusive during daylight hours.
