The Summer Reading Challenge at the Henry Bloom Noble Library attracted more than 300 entrants with record number, 171, completing the Mischief Makers-themed summer-long event, which celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Beano comic.
At the awards presentation on Saturday September 29 His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Jon Joughin JP congratulated the children on their ‘marvellous achievement’ of taking part in
the Summer Reading Challenge which the library has supported for 12 years.
The challenge tasks children to read six books over the school summer holidays and visit the library three times, where a range of themed activity sessions are run, including a cartoon workshop and a talk by the Manx Wildlife Trust’s Dawn Dickens.
