The Regeneration and Community Chair Councillor Stephen Pitts has praised Douglas's primary school children for their horticultural skills shown in the Council's 2018 daffodil-growing competition. He was speaking at the prize presentation at Douglas town hall, presided over by Her Worship the Mayor.

The Council's Parks Service team distributed around 2000 daffodils bulbs and growing material to the schools for the competition which was judged over a week-long period by Councillor Pitts and assistant head of parks (technical) Graham Newsome.

Sponsor of the Best Decorated Pot category was Logistics Training Services Ltd and for the Overall Best Daffodil, RL360.

Overall Best School Daffodil winner Tilly Kennish-Cain of Manor Park School with The Mayor and Mayoress, Manor Park School's Riss Forrester and sponsor Nigel Danzelman of RL360

 Overall Best Decorated Pot winner Georgia O'Grady from the Henry Bloom Noble School, with the Mayor and Mayoress, sponsor Bill Gregory of Logistics Training Services and the school's head teacher Ian Walmsley
