Library celebrates International Women's Day

The Henry Bloom Noble Library supported International Womens Day on Thursday March 8 with an evening event at which six women from different backgrounds spoke about their experiences of progress.

The six speakers were: 

 

Stacey Astill - poet, librarian and researcher with a passion for women’s rights. (Pictured below)

Tanya Humbles -  photographer, writer and researcher. Currently a Manx Radio presenter;

Alyssa Isaac - a New Yorker who fell in love with the Island three years ago. A clinical psychology assistant with the mental health service;

Jade Peterson - founder of Women in Mann, a non-profit organisation which aims to connect and support women from all backgrounds on the Island;

Rakie Keig - author of horror novels who also works at the local criminal court;

Her Worship the Mayor, Councillor Debbie Pitts - elected Member of Douglas Borough Council since 2012. Worked as a nursery nurse for 16 years before moving to Hospice Isle of Man’s Rebecca House where she has been since 2007.(Pictured below)
