Libraries Week is the annual showcase of the best that libraries of all kinds have to offer, encouraging everyone to discover their library on the second week of October.
HBN Library is holding a week of activities, during October 9-14 to celebrate Libraries Week. On offer will be a raffle to win a basket full of books – all you need to do is take out a book during Libraries Week to be given a ticket. Children will be challenged to hunt out our favourite book characters that will be hidden around the library, adults will have the opportunity to enter a fun book related quiz and the chance to win a Brilliant Reading Rest.

Local group, Short Stories and Ludicrous Tales, will be hosting 'Short Tales of Wow and Awesomeness' on Thursday October 12 from 7pm, tickets are free and can be collected in advance from the library or by phoning 696461. The library will also be holding a special pre-school story time session on Thursday October 12from 10.30am based on The Very Hungry Caterpillar, No need to book just turn up on the day.
Borough Librarian Jan Macartney said, 'We have a great programme of activities during Libraries Week to make people more aware of our services and hopefully encourage them to discover something new. The library has some really great facilities; PCs and free wifi, get online sessions, story time, readers group, children’s craft workshops and evening events. Everyone is welcome and we’ll be delighted to welcome our users and new faces for Libraries Week.'
