123 young readers complete Big Friendly Read challenge

123 young readers completed this year's Summer Reading Challenge, the Big Friendly Read, most of whom packed the hall at Cronk y Berry School to receive their certificates presented by His Worship the Mayor, Councillor John Skinner JP who congratulated them on their 'marvellous achievement'.

Borough librarian Jan Macartney spoke of the 'fabulous' book reviews submitted by the children and of the imaginative craft sessions organised during the school summer holidays by her colleague, Shirley Moore (pictured below). She also thanked former Scottish Widows managing director Juan Clarke for his continued support as a volunteer for both the sessions and the prize presentation.

The 2016 Summer Reading Challege, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of author Roald Dahl,  was the 10th to be supported by the Henry Bloom Noble Library.
