Sponsored for the fifth consecutive year by Tower Insurance the event, organised by Douglas Town Centre Management in aid of the RNLI, attracted more than 5000 people in 2015.
Town centre manager Michelle O’Malley said: ‘This has become one of the island’s biggest community events, thanks to the five-year support of Tower Insurance and the unabated interest shown by people of all generations in this historic landmark. The walk brings business benefits too, especially to the bars, cafés and restaurants in the town centre. And, because of the tide times, the date is later than in previous years, so there’s every chance that not only will the walk attract record numbers, but the weather may also be warmer, too.’

The Tower Insurance Tower of Refuge escorted walk is open to all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Suitable clothing and footwear must be worn and instructions by the coastguards and stewards followed at all times.
