Council Leader Councillor David Christian MBE JP said: ‘This year’s carnival was a tremendous success. Right from when last year’s carnival drew to a close it was clear we had a hit on our hands and we were determined to build on that for 2015 and create an even bigger community event.

‘Staging an event of this scale is a complex project and it’s thanks to the hard work over many months of the organisers drawn from the Council and Douglas Development Partnership that the Carnival went so well. Thanks must also go to the sponsors and supporters and, of course, the 500-plus people who took part in the parade: on floats, on foot, on bikes, in cars…and in wheelie bins, all of whom showed outstanding creativity and enthusiasm. But equally thanks are due to the great Manx public who came to Douglas and really entered into the spirit of the day…and a special mention should also be made to the Council’s cleansing teams for a superb clearing-up operation afterwards.

‘Douglas Carnival 2015 may be over but come this autumn plans will be under way for the 2016 carnival, the date of which we hope to announce some time this September.’
