Horse tram service back on track for 2015

The Douglas horse tram 2015 summer season begins on May 11th and for Isle of Man residents there’s never been a better time to enjoy this unique form of vintage transport.

It had been envisaged that the horse trams would not be operating for 2015 but a review of the promenade scheme means that it’s business as usual for the horse trams.

2015 marks the 139th year of the service which will depart daily from the Strathallan terminal from 9am to 5.20pm until Sunday September 13th.

Horse tram bingo continues for 2015, which has proved immensely popular with both children and adults, and new for 2015 are Go Horsetram residents’ tickets.  These represent great value, providing 18 weeks’ unlimited travel from just £20 for adults and £10 for under-16s. Tickets can be bought from Douglas town hall, Ridgeway Street, Douglas, at the Strathallan terminal or online.

Chairman of the Regeneration and Community Committee, Councillor John Skinner said: ‘I’m delighted that the horse trams, a unique form of heritage transport, will be running again in 2015 and would encourage residents and visitors alike to take the opportunity to journey along Douglas promenade during this summer’s season.’
