Entries are now open for the 2015
Organisers Douglas Borough Council and Douglas Development Partnership are now accepting online entries for floats, performers, concessions and a whole host of participants looking to create a high-octane festival atmosphere the length of Douglas Promenade from 7pm until late.
Entries are also open for the Wheelie Bin race and the Council has 20 shiny new wheeled chariots available to budding Jenson Buttons and their teams. The race was one of the highlights of last year’s carnival, attracting teams whose members were clearly supremely imaginative and not of a shy and retiring disposition.
Chairman of the Regeneration and Community Committee Councillor John Skinner said: ‘Last year’s Douglas Carnival – revived after many years – was a great success, despite the disappointing weather, and it set the tone for what is now to be an annual event. Much of that success last year was down to the tremendous sense of community spirit the carnival engendered, not only among individuals and volunteer groups, but also the business and retail sectors, all underpinned by the tireless work of Council officers and staff. That spirit is very much alive and well this year too, and already there’s a determination among all parties – including Manx Radio which, once again, has agreed to be the event’s media partner - to make Douglas Carnival 2015 even bigger and better.’
