Douglas Borough Council’s fireworks display has proved a spectacular success.
Sponsored for the fourth year in succession by Celton Manx, the display was fired to music from a barge in the vicinity of the war memorial.
Council Leader Councillor David Christian MBE JP said: ‘This was one of the high points in the calendar of large-scale community events the Council stages and attracted huge numbers of spectators.
‘Local authorities’ budgets are coming increasingly under pressure - and in this Douglas is no exception - so we were extremely grateful to Celton Manx for their generous sponsorship once again which, combined with a great deal of hard work by many of our officers in the run-up to and during the event, made for an excellent evening of family entertainment where the spectacular fireworks display, visible the entire length of the promenade, could be enjoyed in a safe and secure environment.’
