Domestic Refuse Collection

 

Christmas 2023

 

As Christmas Day falls on Monday 25 December, for those homes whose refuse collection would be on that Monday, the refuse collection will be done on Saturday 23 December. Refuse bins should be placed out on the evening of Friday 22 December for collection on the Saturday morning.

 

New Year 2024

 

As New Year’s Day falls on Monday 1 January, for those homes whose refuse collection would be on that Monday, the refuse collection will be done on Saturday 30 December. Refuse bins should be placed out on the evening of Friday 29 December for collection on the Saturday morning.

Kerbside Collection

Please refer to your kerbside calendars for kerbside collections.

 

Round 10 will be collected on Friday 22 December as usual;

Round 4 will be collected on Thursday 28 December; and

Round 5 will be collected on Friday 29 December.

Domestic recyclable waste can also be taken to the Eastern Civic Amenity Site (at Middle Park Industrial Estate, off Kewaigue Hill) or to the bring- sites at the Grandstand, Shoprite in Victoria Road, and Tesco.

All collections are as listed in the new calendar. Householders not in receipt of a calendar should telephone 696445.

Containers and bags containing only one type of material may be left out in addition to the kerbside boxes.  No mixed contents please.

Eastern Civic Amenity Site

The Eastern Civic Amenity Site will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

 

Opening hours are 8.00am until 4.00pm, with latest entry at 3.45pm.

PLEASE DON’T BIN OR DUMP YOUR NATURAL CHRISTMAS TREE!

 

 

 

Douglas City Council will collect ‘FREE OF CHARGE’ natural Christmas trees from Douglas households at the following times and locations:

You may also deposit your Christmas tree for recycling at the Civic Amenity Site at the Middle Park Industrial Estate, off Kewaigue Hill.

Douglas City Council will re-use the chipped material on Parks and Gardens and in Summerhill Glen.
