Library to celebrate Island of Culture 2014

Monday, 30 December 2013 11:42

The Henry Bloom Noble Library will be celebrating Island of Culture 2014 with monthly presentations, each one highlighting a different cultural theme.

For the first month of 2014 the library has chosen the history of the Isle of Man as its theme. On Wednesday January 8th at 7.30pm local historian Peter Kelly (pictured) will give a presentation on Manx postcards and on Wednesday January 29th, also at 7.30pm, Manx National Heritage’s library and archives services officer Paul Weatherall will host an interactive workshop about the iMuseum, the Island’s digital museum.

Tickets for both presentations are free and should be collected in advance from the ground floor counter of the library. For each session complementary refreshments will be provided.

Island of Culture director Michael Lees said: ‘I’m delighted that the Henry Bloom Noble Library will be supporting Island of Culture so enthusiastically and creatively. At the heart of this year-long celebration is connecting communities with culture in all its rich diversity. Clearly the library team at the Henry Bloom Noble Library share our vision and our aims and I congratulate them on devising what promises to be a compelling programme of events.’

The Henry Bloom Noble Library is at 10 Victoria Street, Douglas.
