Tenders invited for promenade kiosks

The Council is inviting tenders for the tenancy of its two promenade kiosks. 

 

Applicants may submit tenders for the tenancy of either or both kiosks and must clearly state which of the two units they are tendering for or if they wish to apply for the tenancy of both.

 

The Jubilee Clock kiosk is located adjacent to the Bottleneck Car Park, near to the Sea Terminal and has a floor area of approximately 22 square metres.

 

Loch Promenade kiosk is located next to the children’s playground in the sunken gardens and has a kitchen floor area of approximately 13.5 square metres.

 

Applicants are invited to submit a tender stating the rental they are prepared to offer for the tenancy which will be for a three-year period starting on 1st March, 2014. Rates, VAT, insurance and waste disposal charges will be payable in addition to the rent tendered.  Throughout the tenancy the tenant will be responsible for internal repairs, maintenance and decoration.

 

Each property is to be used primarily for the sale of food; no alternative use will be considered although complementary additional product lines will be allowed.  Tenants will be required to open daily throughout the summer season and allowed to open on additional days throughout the year to suit the requirements of the business.  Applicants must submit details of the service they intend to offer.

 

Both the rent offered, and the business proposals submitted will be taken into account in granting the tenancies.  Douglas Borough Council does not bind itself to accept the highest, or any tender.

 

Tenders must be submitted by hand, in the envelope available from the Chief Executive’s Department, Town Hall, Ridgeway Street, Douglas, by 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 17th December, 2013. The envelope must not be posted nor bear any mark to identify the applicant.
