Mayor launches 2012 Poppy Appeal

His Worship the Mayor Councillor David Ashford JP launched the Royal British Legion 2012 Poppy Appeal at the Strand Centre, Douglas on Saturday October 27th.

DavidCloseDSC 8588In a short address His Worship praised the efforts of the fundraisers and the generosity of the people of the Isle of Man which had led to the Isle of Man county winning the Poppy Appeal trophy for more than 30 years.

 

At the 2012 Royal British Legion annual conference held in Scarborough the Isle of Man was awarded the Poppy Appeal trophy for the county with the highest per capita fundraising figure.
